Following are contracts most merchant vessels trade:

1. Liner terms: Liner vessels eg containers, ro-ro, multi purpose ships trade on liner terms - Bill of lading terms. The carrier's standard terms and conditions are stated in his B/L which he issues to each shipper of goods carried.

2. Charter party terms: Bulk carriers, tankers mostly trade on charter party terms, whether a B/L is issued to the shipper or not.

3. Carrier's standard terms: Passenger ships carry passengers on the carriers standard terms and conditions displayed at carrier's office. Passenger's ticket should mention this.
